About the Course:
This course gives an introduction to the capabilities of the Drillbench
Dynamic Hydraulics and the Drillbench Dynamic Well Control modules and will
make the students capable of executing realistic dynamic simulations for
hydraulics and well control situations.
This course comprises of a mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises to
make the student understand the various challenges with drilling hydraulics
and well control operations. The course will be broken down into two parts.
The first part of the course will deal with dynamic hydraulics simulations.
It will starts with an introduction to well hydraulics, and is then
followed by a number of exercises starting with a simple vertical onshore
well to show candidates how to calculated bottom hole pressures, equivalent
circulating densities, static densities and the influence of temperatures
in a well. Wellbore temperatures and hole cleaning aspects will be
addressed.
The second part of the course will deal with the aspects of dynamic well
control. This part starts with an introduction into well control and is
then followed with a number of exercises using the software to demonstrate
how the model can be used to deal with well control aspects and obtain the
results. The well control part also starts with a simple vertical onshore
well and then progresses into the more complex well types.
At the end of the course, the candidates will be familiar with the data
input and the execution of the dynamic simulations and will have gained
significant insight into the complexity of dynamic hydraulics and well
control simulations.
