The Highfield Level 3 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is an internationally recognized qualification designed to provide individuals with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to workplace medical emergencies. In many workplaces, particularly in high-risk industries such as oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, logistics, and maritime operations, rapid and competent first aid response can significantly reduce the severity of injuries and save lives.

This course equips participants with the ability to assess emergency situations, provide immediate first aid assistance, and manage incidents until professional medical services arrive. Participants will learn how to handle a variety of medical emergencies including cardiac arrest, choking, bleeding, burns, fractures, shock, and unconscious casualties.

The training emphasizes **Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) best practices**, ensuring participants understand their responsibilities in maintaining workplace safety and responding to incidents effectively. Through practical demonstrations, scenario-based exercises, and hands-on training, learners gain the confidence and competence required to act as designated workplace first aiders.

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to provide life-saving emergency first aid interventions and support workplace emergency response procedures.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider

Assess emergency situations and prioritize first aid actions

Perform primary survey and casualty assessment

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely

Manage unconscious casualties

Treat bleeding, wounds, and shock

Provide first aid for burns, fractures, and sprains

Respond to choking incidents

Apply first aid procedures in accordance with HSE workplace safety requirements
